About Windy Lou’s Last Mission
On Sunday, November 5, 1944, the “Windy Lou,” a B-17 bomber on a bombing mission from Norfolk, England to the marshaling yards in Ludwigshafen, Germany, was forced to abandon their aircraft after being disabled by anti-aircraft flak on their 16th mission. This is the story of the 9 airmen who were on that final, fatal mission as told by the co-pilot, the last surviving crew member.
